I read this book called Hug Machine that really got me thinking today.  It’s about a boy who hugs everything.  He hugs people and pets and trees and ice cream trucks and whales.  He is really passionate about making the world a better place through hugs.

There are all kinds of hurtful things that we can do with our bodies: kicking, sneering, shouting mean words.  But our bodies are gifts from God.  We should be finding ways of doing good with our bodies: hugging and smiling and giving compliments to people around us.

We all deserve to be hugged, so let’s each hug ourselves as we share the Lord’s Prayer this morning.  I hope that it will remind each of you about all the positive things that our bodies can do.
