I went to the dollar store yesterday and got myself a cool new bracelet.  But I do not think that I will tell you about it or show it to you.  It is mine, right?  I do not really have to.  I am going to keep it all covered up here.

For the last few weeks since Christmas, we have learned about different ways that Jesus can be identified as the light of the world.  The star led the wise men to baby Jesus in Bethlehem.  Jesus is a lamp lighting our path.  Jesus is a bright spot when the world seems dark.  He is a great example of how to be a light for other people.  And we should try to follow Jesus’ example.

I guess this is a good time to show you my new bracelet.  Look – it glows! [sing one verse] This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.  This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.  This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.  Let it shine – let it shine – let it shine!
Jesus is glad when we each shine as our own lights using our gifts and talents to help others.  We can tell other people about God, explaining what we do and how our lights shine so bright. [sing one verse] Spread my light around the world, I’m gonna let it shine.  Spread my light around the world, I’m gonna let it shine.  Spread my light around the world, I’m gonna let it shine.  Let it shine – let it shine – let it shine!
As God sent Jesus to be a light in our lives, now Jesus encourages us to be a light in the lives of others.  Do not hide those glowing bracelets, glowing smiles, and helpful personalities. [sing one verse] Hide it under a bushel – NO, I’m gonna let it shine.  Hide it under a bushel – NO, I’m gonna let it shine.  Hide it under a bushel – NO, I’m gonna let it shine.  Let it shine – let it shine – let it shine.
